That is not all. We haven’t deducted taxes yet!

In order to calculate your crypto taxes, you'll need to keep track of all your transactions throughout the year and figure out what capital gains or losses you have on each transaction.

Example: As per the return calculator above

- if you invest $1000 one time over the past 2 years

- your total profit will be $459.60, which is equivalent to INR 4000

- a 30% tax on the INR 4000 gains means INR 1200.

- Hence, your net returns on the investment are 70% after deducting taxes.

Only the cost of acquisition may be deducted, and losses from virtual digital assets cannot generally be set off against other income or carried forward. Under Section 194S, a 1% TDS may apply to the transfer consideration—not the profit—once the applicable annual threshold is exceeded. The threshold is ₹50,000 for specified persons and ₹10,000 for others. Tax treatment can vary, so users should consult a qualified tax professional.
